A Church for the Future
Springfield Park has a vision for the future of the Baptist church in Springfield Park Road. A church building modestly expanded and re-modelled to help it meet the needs of the community of today and tomorrow. Click on the picture on the left to see some more views.
Our church building is now over 75 years old, and is well in need of some changes to bring it up to date so that it can better serve the many people that use it now, and those that will be using it over the coming years. We have plans, and planning permission to make those changes. Take a look at them and the artists impressions of the exterior of the church.
Building work began on the first phase of the redevelopment at the end of November 2015 and was completed just before Easter 2016. This part of the work added the new galley kitchen, an accessible toilet, store room and office/meeting room, being built partly within and added on to the side of the existing building. We also have a new ramp to help make wheelchair user access easier within the building.
You can take a look at some pictures of the new area here
The full plans will also see the shape of the seating area and entrance lobby being changed and slightly enlarged.
Funding the future
Fund-raising for the redevelopment building work is at an advanced stage, with much of the money that will be needed either available in the form of loans or promised by church members. However, donations of any amount would be welcomed to help raise the large sum of money that is needed and reduce the need to rely on borrowed money. Please support the special events that will be organised to help raise money for the building work.

As a church we believe in the power of prayer and that it makes a difference in situations and circumstances. We are part of Chelmsford 24-7 Prayer, joining with Christians from across our City to pray for the things God lays on our hearts. Please follow this link for more information about how you and your church can get involved: https://chelmsford24-7.org/. Plans for the near future at Springfield Park involve the setting up of a new prayer space and prayer walks around our local area. Watch this space for developments.
Come to our coffee drop-in on Thursday mornings from 9.30am to 12 noon. All welcome for free coffee, tea and a chat.
